Just one more entry in the Hardware Profiles category, where I profile upcoming and available mobile devices powered by Linux-based operating systems (distributions, as we like to call them). This one is an Android tablet from Toshiba.
The tablet is called the exciTe 10 LE, and will be available from March 6, just one day from today. The exciTe 10 LE is one sleek piece and the “LE” probably stands for “Lite Edition” because this tablet is just 0.3″ thin and weighs a paltry 1.2 lbs.
That is super thin. The only officially released image is shown below. I am sure more will be available tomorrow, but for now, this is all I can find.

Word on the street is that the exciTe will be powered by Android 3.2, but upgradeable to Android 4, or Ice Cream Sandwich. As much as the specs are impressive, this is not a tablet that I will be buying, especially at the price that it will be selling for: The 16 GB version is expected to go for a little bit more than $500.00, while the 32 GB version for $600.00.
This main reason I will not be buying this is because tablets powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor will hit the markets soon. The exciTe 10 LE will be powered by a dual-core processor, but the Tegra 3 processor is a quad-core Super 4-PLUS-1™ processor. That is a quad-core processor plus an extra “battery-saver CPU core.” In essence, a 5-core processor. That is a lot of juice, and tablets with that kind of power are those that I will be buying. I already have an HP Touchpad, so I am in no rush to get another one, unless it is powered by a Tegra 3 processor.
