It has just been announced that the ROM, kernel and bootloader for the APC (Android PC) are now available for public download. The APC is an initiative of VIA Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of integrated circuits based in Taiwan.
It is a purpose-built Android PC system designed for keyboard and mouse input, and powered by a VIA 800MHz processor, with 512 MB of DDR3 RAM and 2GB NAND Flash. It has built-in support for 2D/3D graphics resolution up to 720p. And it is about half the size of a standard mini-ITX board.
From the announcement:
We are pleased to announce that the APC ROM, kernel and bootloader are now available for download at http://apc.io/library. Our efforts are focused on creating the most stable and user friendly Android experience for APC and with this release we are aiming to provide developers with the tools you need to begin creating new and exciting apps for our Android environment. At the same time we understand the desire and passion that exists from the hacker and developer communities and we want to allow you the freedom to experiment with installing other distributions to match your needs.
Shipment of pre-ordered APC’s will begin in a few days, but new pre-orders are no longer being accepted.
Here are a few screen shots of the APC. More information about it here.

OMG! why are people getting so stupid now days? I swear we are headed for “Idiocracy” faster and faster with every new piece of technology we make. Just look at the android pc for example. 800mhz and 512RAM? Thats the kind of specs I clown people for having. Thats a old compaq rocking a P3, and running win2k right there. A PC from 10+ years ago. but smaller. What is the point? To have something equally worthless as the phone things everyone is running around with now days? Thats stupid. The PC is supposed to be COMPETENT. That thing couldnt beat up on a PS1, or better yet, its only 3x faster than a PSP. Come on society, call these shits stupid like they are. So we can focus on real issues here. Like running out of technological advancements by 2024. Like stated in the Intel white papers.
These Android “PC” are not intended to replace your standard desktop, but just as a means to run Android for uses other than high-level desktop computing.
I don’t see any SATA connectors, which is bad.
But there is a VGA connector, which is good.
