How to make CanoScan LiDE70 compatible with LinuxMint or LMDE ?

Asked by: 870 views ,
Debian, Linux Mint

I’ve tried almost everything to get LinuxMint to install the drivers for the CanoScan LiDE70 but it would appear to be a hopeless situation. Canon doesn’t support Linux (at least not for this version).

Perhaps somene here has a few good suggestions?

    Trial and error.
    Thanks for sharing.
They should eventually place a “stickie” for linux compatible drivers for scanners somewhere. Now, that would probably take all the fun out of it wouldn’t it? ;)

Good idea! Didn’t think about that one.
Problem is, i don’t think i saw any from Canon itself.

Canon is well-represented in the printer database.

In a situation like this, what I do is attempt a manual configuration and look for a model as close to the one you have.

It usually works, but you may have to try several models before you find one that works.
