Hello everyone!

I apologize in advance for my bad english.

I was trying to dual-boot Windows 7 Ultimate x84 and Kubuntu 11.10 32bit.For GRUB location i choose /boot partition like in tutorial on this website and this error pop out ‘Executing ‘grub-install /dev/sda5′ failed. This is a fatal error. ‘.There was no problem with installing Kubuntu 11.04, everything worked like in tutorial, but after upgrade to 11.10 Kubuntu stoped working so i decided to reinstall Kubuntu and this error constantly comes out.I even reinstalled Windows 7 but same thing happens. It can install GRUB in MBR but i want to have GRUB in /boot partition like in tutorial.Hope anyone can help. Thanks!

I think the boot partition might be too far from the start of the disk. Try creating the boot partition closer to the beginning of the disk, and see what happens.

What is the size of the hard disk, and how much of that is allocated to Windows?

Hi, I was able to overcome the same problem by making the size of the /boot partition greater than 500 mb where you wanted to place the bootloader.
