Currently I have installed Linux Mint 10 (Julia) on my Netbook (Asus Eee PC 701SD: 8 GB SSD, 512 MB RAM). I read your articles which recommends, first partition the hard drive and then install the OS. In my case, I installed Mint without previous partitions on my hard drive.
Now, I have some doubts. First, what is the advantage of making partitions and then install the OS? Second, in my case, I have few resources in my Netbook, what would be the recommended partition sizes? And how many partitions should I do?
Should I follow a similar scheme to install the OS on an 8GB SDHC card?
Finally, what is your opinion about the future of the Asus Eee PC 701SD with respect to new versions of Mint and Ubuntu that will use the Linux Kernel 3.0.x?
My thanks in advance for any response or comments you all may do about my doubts.
