Pardus 2011.1 Installation Error

Posted by on July 12, 2011 2 Comments Category : Distro Updates Tags :

Pardus is a desktop-oriented Linux distribution with roots in the National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE), Turkey. The latest table version, Pardus 2011.1, was released just yesterday.

Like the previous stable release, Pardus 2011, it seems that this edition has a bug in YALI, the installation program, that causes installation in Virtualbox to fail.

While attempting to install it in a virtual environment, the installer generated this error message. I ran the backtrace, shown in the next two screenshots. Perhaps a Pardus developer will make sense of it.

This is “page one” of the backtrace.

And this is the tail end of the error message.

All the installations that will be used for the review, which will be published soon, will have to come from installation on real hardware. I already filed a bug report at http://bugs.pardus.org.tr.

The right place to report this behavior/problem is http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/

It says at the end of the article that I did file a bug report, but nothing stops me from posting it here too.
