Linux on USB stick, SDHC card or external hard drive?

I am considering installing any Linux distribution to either a USB stick, SDHC card or external hard drive. Which is the best to use? Price is not an issue.

If capacity is most important, use a 2.5′ external hard drive. See this tutorial for how Ubuntu 11.04 was installed on a 320 GB one.

And if portability, opt for an SDHC card. See this tutorial for how Linux Mint was installed on an 8 GB SDHC card.
