Installing Windows 7 after Fedora 15

Asked by: 1223 views , ,
Fedora

I’ve read several tutorials on dual-booting between Linux and Windows 7 on the main site, and they all show how to do it with Windows 7 installed first. Is it possible to install Windwos 7 after, not before? What are the steps involved?

The Linux I want to use is Fedora 15 and the computer is a desktop with 2 hard drives.

It is possible but not recommended. With 2 disks, it’s less of a hassle than if you had 1 disk, but it is still not recommended.

So, install Windows on the first disk. Naturally, the boot loader will be installed in the MBR, then install Fedora on the second disk and this time, install GRUB in the MBR of the second disk.

After installation, the system should reboot into Windows, then use a suitable program to add an entry for Fedora in the boot menu of Windows.

EasyBCD is a good progra to use for that task. See http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2011/06/27/how-to-dual-boot-fedora-15-and-windows-7/ for an example of how to use it.
