Btrfs for boot partition

Asked by: 1563 views
Disk Partition

There are several articles here that show how to install certain distros on a btrfs file system, and in all, a different file system was used on the boot partition. Is this saying that btrfs cannot be used on /boot or is this a personal preference?

The boot loader must support the file system you are booting from thus what is loaded from mbr should be the most recent version of grub compiled from source with btrfs support module… might as well have yaffs support too and android patch your Linux kernel.. Ubuntu kernel must also be recompiled with yaffs and btrfs…

Btrfs can be used on /boot. I have used it on an installation of Arch Linux. No problems so far. The thing to remember is that it is like any other file system. If it can be used on /, then it can also be used on /boot.
