how do i install 11.04 to the free space on my netbook?

I have some free space on my notebook that the Ubuntu 11.04 CD does not see. How do I get to install it on this space? Thank you

    Automatic setup of the installer does not “see” the free space. To install on the free space, use the manual or advanced partitioning tool to set up partitions. This guide will help: http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2011/05/04/manual-disk-partitioning-guide-for-ubuntu-11-04/
