Linux Deepin needs your help with the Deepin Localization Project

Linux Deepin Localization Project i18n l10n

Linux Deepin is a desktop distribution that’s based on Ubuntu Desktop.

It is a Chinese distribution and one of the very few Linux distributions that’s actually bringing something new to the table: From custom apps to a new desktop environment built atop GNOME 3 technologies called the Depth Desktop Environment.

But it has localization problems, so the developers have launched a project to get more hands on deck. The goal is to help make one of the finest desktop distributions available in your local language.

Here’s what the developers are asking you to do:

Since Linux Deepin 2013 was released, we have been asked by many of our users to translate it into different languages. We were planning to establish a translation platform, but the process is delayed because of the heavy development progress for the next generation of Linux Deepin. In light of our philosophy, we cherish community participation, so we are looking for volunteers to help with the translation. And we are calling it the Linux Deepin Localization Project.

We have extracted a collection of PO files for translation, which can be found on our GitHub page.

You can use a localization tool like Poedit to edit the PO files, or simply grab any tool you like, even a text editor. When you have finished translation, you can submit the translated PO files by mailing to us.

So if you have the practical skills, get the details here and help make the next edition of Linux Deepin available in many more languages.

I recommend using this online tool for your localization project: https://poeditor.com. It has a simple interface, API, translation memory and other cool features.
