Foresight is a Linux distribution built around the Conary package management system. It features Gnome as the installed desktop environment.

Comments: Foresight is installable via a GUI interface. LVM is supported and it’s the default disk partitioning scheme, with EXTLINUX (default) and GRUB as the bootloader options. Foresight ships with the PackageKit system manager. Packagekit is the GUI frontend to Conary, which is a distributed software management system for Linux distributions.
A newly installed Foresight desktop features, as with Zenwalk and Fedora, one of each “essential” application per computing task. Firefox is the installed browser, and it will, out of the box, handle flash, but not quicktime files embedded in Web pages. Insert an audio CD, and Banshee pops open.
Banshee is a better audio CD player than Totem - the default audio CD player in Fedora. Like Amarok, the audio player in the K Desktop Environment (KDE), Banshee will dock to the system tray when the application window is closed. You can’t do that with Totem.
Libdvdcss, the GPL-ed library that makes it possible to play encrypted DVDs, is installed by default, but we could not playback a commercial DVD video using Totem (the only installed movie player).
From nm-applet, the GUI frontend to Network Manager, you can configure VPN connections via OpenVPN or a compatible Cisco VPN client (vpnc). But that and PolicyKit are the only security-specific features that is visible in Foresight. Unlike Parsix, Mandriva, Fedora, and a few other distros, it does not ship with a firewall enabled.
The latest version of Foresight - version 2.0 - ships with Gnome-2.22, which uses the GVFS networked filesystem.
