Elastix

ElastixElastix is an appliance software that integrates the best tools available for Asterisk-based PBXs into a single, easy-to-use interface. It also adds its own set of utilities and allows for the creation of third party modules to make it the best software package available for open source telephony.

Origin – Home Page: USA – Elastix

Management Interface: Console CLI and Web-based GUI

Price: Free and Open Source

Comments: Like trixbox CE, Elastix is based on CentOS, and sports the same menu-driven installer, which is virtually automatic and offers very little option for customization (LVM disk partitioning is not supported).

After installation, you have the option to boot into either a CentOS Linux kernel with Xen virtualization enabled, or a kernel image without Xen. This means that you can, if there is a need for it, run multiple instances of Elastix on the same server. Elastix is one of two distros with support for virtualization enabled out-of-the-box (the other one is Vyatta).

The admin interface of this IP/PBX distro has support for 21 different languages, compared to 7 for trixbox. The admin interface is powered by FreePBX, and therefore all the features of FreePBX. Aside from the stock FreePBX features, Elastix has configuration backup and restore capability, support for video phones, Openfire (a real time collaboration server), vTigerCRM, and SugarCRM integrated, and the ability to send any digital document to a fax number through a virtual printer.

Download/Buy: You may download Elastix here. Elastix is free, but a paid, chat-based support is provided by PaloSanto Solutions, a company based in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
